Halona Blowhole Lookout

Scenic ViewsEasy

About

Natural lava tube blowhole that shoots seawater 30+ feet in the air with each wave. The lookout also overlooks the secluded Halona Cove beach (From Here to Eternity filming location) and offers excellent whale watching in winter.

Our Take

The blowhole is genuinely impressive when the surf is cooperating — seawater shot 30 feet through a lava tube by wave pressure. But the real discovery is Halona Cove below — the small crescent beach where Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr filmed that scene in From Here to Eternity. An underrated East Oahu stop.
