About

Oahu's remote westernmost tip accessible only on foot or by mountain bike. Home to a protected Hawaiian monk seal and albatross colony. The 2.5-mile coastal trail offers dramatic lava sea stacks, tide pools, and whale sightings in winter.

Our Take

Oahu's most remote and rewarding coastal hike leads to the westernmost tip of the island — a wildlife sanctuary where Hawaiian monk seals haul out on lava rocks and Laysan albatross nest without fences. The 2.5-mile trail along the dramatic lava coast is largely unchanged from pre-contact Hawaii. No cars, no facilities, no shortcuts.
